Spook-tacular Clean

Halloween is right around the corner, and with it comes pumpkins, costumes, candy, decorations—and yes, extra mess. Whether you’re hosting a haunted house party, welcoming trick-or-treaters, or simply decorating for the season, we’ve got your back. At Millennium Cleaning Service, we believe a clean home is a more festive home. Here’s how to enjoy the fun while staying on top of the mess.

1. Pre-Party Prep

Before the decorations go up and the costumes come out, a little pre-clean goes a long way. Take time to:

  • Clear off surfaces in your living and entry areas so decorations and lighting look crisp and intentional.

  • Vacuum or sweep high-traffic zones—especially if you’ll have frequent comings and goings with guests or children.

  • Wipe down tables, countertops, and door handles (those will be touched a lot!).

  • Consider adding a small mat or tray at the entry for candy wrappers or other debris.

2. Decorating Smart (and Clean)

Halloween décor is fun—but it can also add clutter. Here are some cleaning-friendly tips:

  • Choose decorations that can be easily wiped or shaken off—fake cobwebs, for example, can collect dust if left up too long.

  • If you’re using real pumpkins, keep them off paved or dusty surfaces if possible—pumpkin guts and moisture create an extra cleanup job.

  • Keep candles or lights away from dusty surfaces or loose fabrics (for both safety and ease of cleaning).

  • Use bins or boxes for storing year-to-year decorations; keeping things off the floor means less dust accumulation.

3. Trick-or-Treat Traffic & Post-Event Cleanup

With trick-or-treaters comes more traffic, more candy wrappers, more foot traffic—but your cleanup doesn’t have to be overwhelming.

  • Set up a “wrapper drop zone” near the entry or exit so guests aren’t walking back to your entertaining zone with trash in tow.

  • After the event, vacuum or sweep the entry and living areas while the activity is still recent—sticky floors and melted candy are easier to deal with when fresh.

  • Take a quick pass on surfaces that may have been used for snacks or socializing. Wipe everything down before going to bed so you wake up to a refreshed space.

4. After the Costume & Candy Chaos

After the big night is done:

  • Dispose of any decorations or pumpkins that are beyond reuse (especially if they’ve started to rot or attract insects).

  • Wash or vacuum costume fabrics as needed—some may have been worn outside and picked up more dirt than you realize.

  • If your home has rugs or carpets, consider a focused cleaning to remove tracked-in leaves, candy wrappers, or spilled cocoa.

  • Schedule a full clean (or call us at Millennium!) to usher in November with a fresh start.

5. Why a Clean Home Enhances the Holiday

A little extra housekeeping makes a big difference on the holiday:

  • Guests and trick-or-treaters feel welcome in a well-kept space.

  • You enjoy the decorations and fun instead of stressing over the mess.

  • Post-event cleanup is faster and less of a headache.

  • You extend the life of your décor and surfaces by avoiding buildup of grime, stains, or moisture.

At Millennium Cleaning Service, we’re proud to help Orlando-area homeowners stay in the holiday spirit—without letting the mess steal the show.
